Riding from Pietermaritzburg to Durban? Send your bike to KwaZulu-Natal ahead of time and have it couriered home after you finish on the Durban beachfront.
A point-to-point race needs a plan
The 106 km Classic starts at Pietermaritzburg City Hall, the shorter routes start closer to the coast, and every route finishes in Durban. That makes it tricky for visiting riders: your bike needs to be in Pietermaritzburg on race morning, and you finish about 100 km away. Have the bike delivered to your accommodation in Pietermaritzburg or Hilton, then book the return collection from where you stay in Durban.
Different addresses are fine. On a return booking, the return collection address does not have to match the address we delivered to. Deliver to Pietermaritzburg, collect from Durban.
Coming from Gauteng or the Cape?
Fly into King Shaka International with hand luggage and let the bike travel separately. Road bikes are R700 each way, and you can add optional cover for R180.
Tips for Amashova riders
- Have the bike delivered at least two days before the race so you have time to build and test it.
- Remove the pedals and protect the rear derailleur when you pack. See our bike packing guide.
- Arrange for someone to receive the bike if you are out riding when the courier arrives.

When is the 2027 race?
Amashova has been held in July in recent years. The 2027 date had not been confirmed when we wrote this page, so check the official website before you book.
Can you deliver to Pietermaritzburg and collect in Durban?
Yes. Enter your Pietermaritzburg address as the delivery address and your Durban address as the return collection address.
How long does delivery to KwaZulu-Natal take?
Economy delivery normally takes 3 to 5 business days after collection. Allow at least 8 business days before the race to be safe.
Riding Amashova?
Book the bike there and home again in one go.
