Getting your bike to Cape Town
The Cycle Tour starts in the city centre and finishes in Green Point, so most visiting riders stay in the City Bowl, on the Atlantic Seaboard or in the Southern Suburbs. Have your bike delivered to where you are staying a few days early. That leaves time to collect your race number, put the bike back together and go for a short ride before the start.
Where to have it delivered
- Your hotel, guesthouse or rental. Check that reception will accept and sign for a large box before you arrive.
- A friend or family member in Cape Town.
- A bike shop near your accommodation. Many shops will receive a boxed bike and some will build and check it for you. Ask first and agree any fee with them.
Getting it home
Book the return leg in the same booking. Choose a return collection date from the Monday after the event, pack the bike back into its box and leave it with your accommodation or the shop for the courier. It reaches home 3 to 5 business days later.
Keep your bike box. Open it carefully, flatten it and store it where you are staying so you can repack for the trip home. Bring packing tape, cable ties and the tools to remove your pedals.
Tips for Cycle Tour riders
- Remove the pedals, turn the handlebars sideways and protect the rear derailleur. Our bike packing guide takes you through it.
- Put a pad spacer between disc brake pads once the wheels are out.
- Add optional cover (R180) if your bike is valuable.
- Check the bike over as soon as it arrives, not on race morning.

Questions riders ask
Can you deliver to the start on race day?
No. We deliver to street addresses on business days, so please do not plan around a race-morning delivery. Have the bike delivered to your accommodation, a friend or a bike shop a few days before.
I only arrive on the Friday. Will that work?
Yes. Book collection by 1 March 2027 and arrange for someone at your accommodation to receive the box. Most hotels and guesthouses will accept a parcel for a booked guest, but check with them first.
Can my whole club send their bikes?
Yes. Each rider can book separately, or one person can book up to 10 bikes from one address. For bigger groups or several collection points, request a group quote.
